I was sitting here experiencing exactly what so many of you describe. I was doing everything right and still feeling like something was off.
And going through that from a coach perspective has honestly given me an incredibly new level of understanding for what it feels like from the inside.
Hey there, I have been gone since January and you know, it's May and before we really get into anything else, I kind of just want to share a little bit about what's been going on, why I've been gone and you know, where we're going next. Because if you've been around for a while, you deserve that and if you're ⁓ a brand new listener, I'm so glad that you found us because this podcast is for midlife moms who are really just done guessing and they want something that...
You know, that fits your life. So I want to go ahead and just share a little bit about my story. So in January, I recorded a couple of episodes. got a couple of things going on and I just made a decision. I was honestly just trying to do too many things at once. I was trying to do my podcast, my YouTube channel. I had my clients and I was building out some new resources. And so something just honestly had to come down temporarily.
because otherwise everything else was gonna suffer. So I was choosing to focus on YouTube and I still love YouTube so much, but it's clear to me right now that so many of my moms and so many of my listeners find me on my podcast. In fact, recently I was named on one of the top 10 weight loss podcasts. And so I was really excited about that. And listen, this show matters a lot to me and I...
I'm super committed to it. But I also wanted to get a few things built and make sure that I could show up in the way that I wanted to show up and make sure that I could give you the things that I wanted to give you. So if I'm being honest, it was just a lot more than I can juggle. And I also had some personal stuff and family stuff that just kind of up some more bandwidth than I expected. And on top of that, I've been dealing with gut issues.
for a long time, since I was like 16. And I was finally diagnosed with SIBO, which is small intestinal bacteria overgrowth. And honestly, what finally got to me was kind of embarrassing, but it was burping. I was just burping constantly to the degree it was just impossible to ignore. so given my background, I kind of knew where to start.
And I dug in like I dug in hard and I really started, you know, to to dive deep into my symptoms to really choose to understand, you know, what was going on. And so, you know, once I started digging into it, then it really kind of explained a lot of things that I had been feeling, but I couldn't put my finger on. And I'm telling you this because I coach midlife moms on food and hormones and energy.
And I was sitting here experiencing exactly what so many of you describe. I was doing everything right and still feeling like something was off.
And going through that from a coach perspective has honestly given me an incredibly new level of understanding for what it feels like from the inside. Right. I am still very much treating the SIBO. So I don't have a full resolution story yet. And when I do, I will share more, but I just wanted to know you to know that it's real and it's happening. And it's part of why this hiatus was more than just, you know, I didn't want to do it.
But I did spend a lot of that time doing some other things because it wasn't nothing. So I went deep into client work. I was having a lot of conversations with women just like you. And I really kept hearing the same things, not the big picture stuff, but really specific things. And it's things like, I just don't even know where to start. Or I know what I should be doing, but like on a...
I'm driving my kids around all day every day and I don't, you know, when my kids get home, they're constantly asking me what's for dinner and I'm still in work mode or I have to drive, you know, two different carpools at night and I don't even know when I'm going to work out, let alone eat. So I want to, you know, share that I get it. Like this is the season of life I'm into. And so
I realized that you there are so much information out there right on the internet and there's no lack of that right now. But what you need and what every woman and mom needs as a community and helps to try and figure out, you know, clarity. And so there was a few things that I did while I was gone that I built. And the first one is a quiz that actually shares the one thing that's getting in your way.
Okay, so I built that and I also built something called Five Days to Finally Know What to Eat in Perimenopause and it's a free five day mini challenge slash course. And it's a real life walkthrough of what to actually eat, you know, during the week, how to do it. And so I'm going to put these two things, the quiz,
which identifies exactly what is getting in your way. And the five days to finally know what to eat and perimenopause, I'm going to stick them in the show notes because I know that they are something that can potentially help you. And, you know, I, I want you to really just understand where you're at, because some of you are under eating right now, even though you think you're eating healthy and your body's just holding on for dear life.
And some of you have the food dialed in, but the habits just aren't sticking. Some of you are dealing with something so much deeper hormones, gut health, stress, and no amount of meal planning is going to fix that. So this quiz is going to help you kind of figure out which one you're dealing with so that you kind of stop solving the wrong problem. Both are free. Both are going to be in the show notes. like I said, and both honestly come out of.
directly listening to all of you and to the things that you're telling me. So here's what you can expect now that this show is back. So every Monday, a new episode, just like before, we are going to be talking real food strategies for midlife. I'm going to talk through hormone health in plain language that really helps you understand things and just what's happening inside of your body and what to do about it.
especially habits that are going to hold up when you're having the craziest week. Like we're in May-September now and moms especially know that May is almost if not sometimes busier than December. And so I want you to you know really think about that. And I'm going to continue with my mindset episodes because sometimes while mindset sounds you know too woo-woo and everybody's like I don't need to work on my mindset.
It's actually, you know, one of the things that your body needs. Okay. And you, what you think and what you're telling yourself sometimes matter more than what you're putting into it. So, I am going to share all of these things and just, know, if you are brand new here and you just found me, I just wanted to share a little bit of a background about me, but I'm Nikki cheek and I am a certified health coach.
And I'm a mom of three teen and tween boys and someone who is actively living everything that I talk about on this show. And so I'm not, you know, I'm in it with you. And before you go, a couple of things. Go grab the quiz. It's one question, 30 seconds, and you're going to know exactly what's been getting in your way. And the second is, and I truly mean this, if this episode or any of these former episodes
have felt like something that you just needed to hear. I would love it if you could leave me a review on Apple or Spotify because this show was just named one of the top mom weight loss podcasts in the US. And I know this content is landing and I wanna make sure that so many other moms can find it. So if you haven't, follow the show. And if you have,
I am going to be sharing another episode later this week. And to be honest, it involves my son calling me bad news, buddy. So I am really glad to be back. I missed this. I missed all of you and I will see you soon.
